LONGEVITY ASSESSMENT
BOOK NOWLongevity Assessment in Calgary
The Longevity Assessment at SMART Performance Training Centre & Clinic is a comprehensive health and performance evaluation designed for adults who want to optimize how they age. Whether you are 30 or 70, this assessment gives you a clear, objective picture of your current physical capacity, identifies areas of decline or risk, and provides a personalized roadmap to improve your healthspan. This is not a standard physical. It is a deep dive into the metrics that matter most for living longer, stronger, and pain-free.
ASSESSMENT COMPONENTS
Our Longevity Assessment covers the key biomarkers and physical capacities that research has linked to healthspan and longevity. Each component is measured objectively so we can track your progress over time and adjust your plan as you improve.
01
Cardiovascular fitness is the single strongest predictor of all-cause mortality. We assess your aerobic capacity through sub-maximal testing protocols that estimate your VO2 max, measure resting heart rate, and evaluate how quickly your heart rate recovers after exertion.
02
Muscle strength declines with age and is directly linked to fall risk, bone density, and metabolic health. We measure grip strength, lower body power output, and functional strength through standardized tests that give us a clear picture of where you stand relative to your age and goals.
03
Balance and mobility are critical for independence and injury prevention as we age. Our assessment includes single-leg stance testing, functional reach tests, and movement quality screening to identify asymmetries, compensations, and fall risk factors before they become problems.
04
Understanding your body composition goes far beyond stepping on a scale. We assess lean muscle mass, fat distribution, and regional body composition to identify sarcopenia risk, metabolic health markers, and areas where targeted training can have the greatest impact on your long-term health.
05
How you move determines how you feel. Our movement quality assessment identifies restrictions, compensations, and pain patterns that limit your daily function and increase injury risk. This screening informs your personalized exercise prescription and connects directly to our physiotherapy team if clinical intervention is needed.
06
Longevity is not just physical. We assess cognitive processing speed, reaction time, and gather data on your sleep quality, stress levels, and recovery capacity. These metrics round out the full picture and help us build a plan that addresses both body and mind.

Why a Longevity Assessment Matters
Most people do not realize they are losing physical capacity until it is too late to reverse easily. After age 30, adults lose 3-8% of muscle mass per decade, cardiovascular fitness declines steadily, and balance deteriorates. A Longevity Assessment gives you a baseline, identifies your weakest links, and creates a targeted plan to slow, stop, or reverse age-related decline. The earlier you start measuring, the more runway you have to make meaningful changes.
Evidence-Based. Clinically Integrated.
Every component of our Longevity Assessment is grounded in peer-reviewed research on aging, healthspan, and physical performance. Our performance coaches and clinical team collaborate on your results, so your action plan is not just a list of exercises — it is a coordinated strategy that accounts for your injury history, current limitations, lifestyle, and goals. Reassessment every 6-12 months tracks your progress objectively.
Live Longer. Live Stronger.
Aging is inevitable, but how you age is largely within your control. The research is clear: cardiovascular fitness, muscle strength, balance, and body composition are the strongest predictors of how long and how well you will live. Our Longevity Assessment measures exactly these things, then connects you with the coaching, programming, and clinical support to improve them. Whether you are an executive, a retiree, or a weekend warrior, this is the most important investment you can make in your future self.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Common questions about our Longevity Assessment and what to expect during the process.
Who is the Longevity Assessment for?
The Longevity Assessment is designed for adults of any age who want to take a proactive, data-driven approach to their health. Whether you are 30 and want to establish a baseline, 50 and noticing changes, or 70 and looking to maintain independence, this assessment meets you where you are and builds a plan forward.
How long does the assessment take?
A full Longevity Assessment typically takes 60-90 minutes. This includes all physical testing, a review of your health history and goals, and an initial discussion of your results. A detailed written report and personalized action plan are delivered within one week.
What should I wear or bring?
Wear comfortable athletic clothing and clean indoor shoes. Bring water and any relevant medical records or test results you would like us to consider. Avoid heavy meals or caffeine for at least two hours before your appointment for the most accurate cardiovascular and body composition results.
How often should I get reassessed?
We recommend reassessment every 6 to 12 months depending on your training consistency and goals. Regular reassessment allows us to objectively track your progress, adjust your programming, and celebrate the improvements you have made.
Do I need to be fit to do this?
No. The assessment is scaled to your current level. Every test has modifications and progressions. The entire point is to meet you where you are, identify your strengths and limitations, and build a realistic plan to improve. You do not need to be an athlete to benefit from knowing your numbers.
Will I get a personalized plan?
Yes. Every Longevity Assessment includes a detailed written report with your results, benchmarks for your age and sex, and a personalized action plan. This plan may include exercise programming, referrals to our physiotherapy or clinical team, and lifestyle recommendations based on your specific results.
Is this covered by insurance?
The assessment itself is a wellness service and is typically not covered by standard health insurance. However, if clinical issues are identified during the assessment, follow-up physiotherapy or clinical services may be eligible for coverage under your benefits plan. We can provide receipts for any clinical services rendered.
